Velar — Theyyam Performing Community
വേലൻ
The Velan community has a longstanding place in the ritual traditions of North Malabar and performs several distinctive Theyyam forms. Their performances are closely associated with village deities, guardian spirits, and traditional ritual ceremonies. Through hereditary training and oral transmission, Velan artists continue to preserve unique performance styles, ceremonial practices, and sacred traditions that remain an important part of Kerala's intangible cultural heritage.
