According to tradition, while Goddess Parvati was bathing on Mount Kailasa, Shiva's attendants entered her presence without permission. Angered by this intrusion, the goddess's immense spiritual energy surged forth. Realising that releasing this power directly would consume the world in flames, she instead bestowed it upon the wife of her devoted follower Veerapal Pattar, who had long remained childless.

In time, she gave birth to a divine daughter. The child mastered every branch of knowledge from an early age and eventually revealed her true divine nature to her father. She then set out on a journey from north to south with the purpose of destroying evil and protecting the righteous.

During her travels, she formed a close bond with Puthiya Bhagavathi, and together they continued southward.

One day, the devout Peringalayi Kammal received a vision of the goddess in a dream. Following the dream, he went to the bathing ghat he had seen but found nothing there. He prayed that, if the goddess was truly present, she would reveal herself. At that moment, his palm-leaf umbrella is said to have flown on its own and came to rest at the Padinjatta (western sacred space), revealing the goddess's presence.

Tradition holds that Veerali arrived there accompanied by Veeran, Puthiya Bhagavathi, and Bhadrakali. Thereafter, Peringalayi Kammal began performing Theyyam for these deities, establishing their worship in the region.
